Why Cigars Need a Special Lighter?
Lighting a cigar properly matters more than most people realize until they experience it themselves. A soft flame can burn the wrapper unevenly, while holding a strong torch too close can dry out the foot before the tobacco starts burning evenly. Getting a smooth and even light takes practice, or simply using the right lighter for the job. We are here to help you choose the right tool.
Lighting a cigar incorrectly can affect the smoking experience. A regular soft-flame or naphtha lighter (like a standard Zippo) or liquid-fuel lighters can produce an odour that may change the cigar’s natural flavor. Cigars also have a wider end than cigarettes, so they need an even light across the whole surface and something a small single flame may not do it effectively.
We are Pakistan’s dedicated lighter specialists, and we stock a carefully selected range of cigar lighters designed for this job. Our collection includes Torch flame lighters that are wind-resistant, clean-burning, and powerful enough to give your cigar an even and proper light for a better smoking experience.
Types of Cigar Lighters at Lighters.pk
1. Single Torch Butane Lighter
A single torch lighter produces one focused jet of butane flame. It provides a strong, precise, and wind-resistant flame, which makes it a good choice for regular-sized cigars (typically up to a 50 ring gauge). It is one of the most popular options and is known for being practical and easy to find.
2. Double / Triple Torch Lighter
These Jet flame lighters use two or three flames at the same time, creating a wider flame area. This helps you to light the thicker and wider cigars more evenly and quickly.
3. Turbo Torch / Windproof Lighter
A high-powered butane torch lighter with an adjustable flame. Many models are refillable and allow you to increase or decrease the flame strength using a control dial. The Inflatable Windproof Turbo Torch Gas Lighter on our site is one of our best sellers. It is designed to deliver a strong, reliable flame and perform well in outdoor conditions.
How to Properly Light a Cigar – Step by Step
- Heat the end of the cigar first — Hold the flame about 1–2 cm away and slowly rotate the cigar over the flame. Do not let the flame touch the cigar directly.
- Put the cigar in your mouth — When the end starts glowing evenly.
- Light it gently — Bring the flame closer, take slow puffs, and rotate the cigar for an even burn.
- Check the end — If the whole end is glowing evenly, your cigar is lit properly.
- Avoid touching and do not burn the outer wrapper — Only light the end of the cigar.
If Using a match? Wait a few and let the sulphur burn off completely before lighting your cigar. Wooden matches are often preferred because they give a cleaner light.
How to Refill a Butane Cigar Lighter
All cigar lighters at Lighters.pk can be refilled with standard butane gas:
- Remove any remaining gas by pressing the refill valve with a small tool (like a pen tip) until the hissing sound stops.
- Turn the lighter upside down and find the refill valve at the bottom.
- Press the butane can nozzle firmly into the valve and fill for about 3–5 seconds.
- Wait around 2 minutes before using the lighter so the gas can settle properly.
- If needed, adjust the flame size using the small control dial near the refill valve.

Frequently Asked Questions
The best lighter for Cigar is Torch butane gas lighter.
Multi-flame cigar lighters are designed to offer a more even light and quicker ignition for cigars.
Technically yes, but it is not recommended. Naphtha lighters like a standard Zippo introduce a fuel smell that affects the cigar’s flavour. Matches work if you allow the sulphur to burn off. For the best experience, a butane torch lighter is always the right choice for cigars.
Beginners should start with a single torch butane lighter (Rs. 800–1,500). For larger cigars, upgrade to a double torch.
Zippo lighters are generally not ideal for cigars, a torch lighter with a strong wind-resistant flame is usually preferred.
This depends on usage. A moderate cigar smoker (one cigar per day) will typically refill their torch lighter every 2–3 weeks. Butane canisters are inexpensive and widely available, or you can order refill gas through Lighters.pk.
